Unit 9NLR
When our client came to us with a vision to kick-start a retail market, all they had was a basic storage unit. Bitarchitects took on the challenge, transforming the underutilized space into a fully functional retail space through thoughtful adaptive reuse—reimagining the area while preserving much of its original structure.
A new main entrance was designed to welcome customers, and an internal connection was created between Units I and II to allow for smooth circulation. Two separate bathrooms were merged into one ADA-compliant accessible restroom, accessed through a new doorway carved from the former office. To enhance safety and flow, we removed a west-side wall and added a new egress door.
Inside, the layout was tailored for retail functionality with three commercial freezers, compliant shelving systems, and two custom counter areas.
Throughout the renovation, we ensured full compliance with fire protection codes and meticulously reconfigured all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems to meet the operational needs of a modern retail space.
