About us

Bitarchitects is a professional design firm licensed in Washington DC, and working in the DC-Maryland-Virginia area as well as New York and California.  Our company was founded in Lebanon as a boutique design studio conducting sustainability studies for the Ministry of Environment, with one of our studies published as a book for the general public. 

In 2020, the firm expanded its outreach to the U.S. and launched works in collaboration with architecture university professors on the West Coast.  Now, Bitarchitects is engaged in a wide range of commercial and residential projects, with a staff comprised of 14 architects and visual designers, several contractors with adjunct skill sets, and a 7-person Board of Advisors.  From the inception of the business in the U.S., our firm has completed 62 projects, and achieved a 5-Star client satisfaction rating.

What is our Architectural Philosophy?

At the heart of our architectural philosophy is the belief that every person is intrusively a designer, and has the right to be actively involved in shaping their own designs, whether it be for residential or commercial purposes.

Throughout the history of architecture, it has become evident that every individual should engage in the design process. Attempts to exclude the clients’ aspirations and overlook the boundless creativity of the human spirit have resulted in project failures. Prominent architects tried to anticipate human activity and based their projects on scientific principles. However, the essence of architecture extends far beyond such considerations. It involves the human spirit, its creativity, and its longing for space and meaningful experiences, elements that defy prediction remaining highly human. The realm of the human experience surpasses any preconceived notions remaining as a force that defies boundaries with that being contained.

So when asked who should design the city? The answer is not the architect, nor the urban planner, not even the politicians etc., the answer is that everyone has the right to design the city, the place where they live. Designing is one of the human rights.

The Radiant City, designed by Le Corbusier, encountered significant obstacles due to its neglect of the human spirit, disconnection from urban environments, monotonous and uniform design, excessive emphasis on automobiles, exclusionary tendencies, and impractical implementation challenges. Although the concept had a degree of influence on urban planning and architecture, it did not achieve widespread success and remains a subject of debate and critique. The displacement, social disruption, and destruction of existing neighborhoods associated with the implementation of the Radiant City did result in feelings of detachment, a loss of community, and even distress among certain individuals.

We, Bitarchitects, see ourselves as facilitators, utilizing our architecture, design and engineering expertise and skills to bring our clients’ visions to life. By fostering collaboration and open communication, we enable our clients to play an integral role in the design process, resulting in outcomes that truly reflect their desires and preferences. Ultimately, our goal is to create spaces that not only meet functional requirements but also bring happiness and fulfillment to our clients, their users.
