Terry Bitar
Founder and Managing Partner
Terry Bitar is an architect, entrepreneur, and philanthropist whose journey is rooted in resilience, vision, and the belief that design is not just about structures, it’s about shaping lives and communities. Born into a Lebanese and Armenian family, Terry blends the values of her rich cultural heritage with a forward-thinking, purpose-driven approach to leadership. Her story is one of reinvention, from surviving crisis to building one of Washington, D.C.’s most dynamic and fast-growing architecture and engineering firms.
Terry earned her Bachelor’s degree in Architecture with High Distinction from Notre Dame University Louaize, consistently making the Dean’s List. With a strong academic background in advanced mathematics, she developed technical precision that has defined her approach to structural systems and problem-solving. She furthered her expertise with a Master’s degree in Architecture Sustainability from the Lebanese University in Hadath, where she deepened her knowledge of sustainable and innovative design strategies.
At 22, Terry founded the Charity Donation Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to poverty alleviation. Over more than a decade, the foundation led multiple initiatives in Lebanon, including the “Love Bites” food brand, which expanded into six pop-up stores that combined social purpose with local economic impact. Her philanthropic contributions have earned international recognition, including honors from Lions Club International, as well as organizations in Japan, Jordan, and the broader Middle East.
After surviving the Beirut Blast in 2020, Terry relocated to Washington, D.C., where she founded Bitarchitects, a licensed and insured firm offering a full spectrum of design, engineering, permitting and construction services. In recognition of her educational and professional accomplishments, she was granted a U.S. Green Card through the National Interest Waiver Petition. She is currently pursuing her MBA at The George Washington University, balancing rigorous academic advancement with the strategic leadership of her firm.
In 2025, Bitarchitects was recognized as a DC Power Player for the third consecutive year and awarded Best of the City for the second year in a row for its excellence, innovation, and impact. In 2024, Terry was named a Dynamic Woman by DC Modern Luxury Magazine and honored by the American Lebanese Engineering Society (ALES). This year, under her leadership, the firm was invited to bid on several multi-million-dollar projects and works closely with a high-level advisory board of experts in government contracting, engineering, and real estate development.
Bitarchitects is fully licensed and certified, including with CBE, MWAA, DDOT, and the DC Supply Schedule, to provide architecture, multidisciplinary engineering, permitting, and construction services. The firm is recognized for delivering cost-effective, high-quality, and technically advanced solutions, blending design excellence with tech-savvy execution to serve both public and private sector clients.
As Managing Partner, Terry continues to lead Bitarchitects with a focus on growth, exceptional service, and long-term impact. She remains an active voice for women’s empowerment, educational access, and professional equity, and takes great pride in her Lebanese roots, Armenian heritage, and her acquired American home, a blend that continues to shape her mission and values.
