Virginia Retaining Wall

Project Scope of Work

Installation of Temporary Wooden Retaining Wall:

1 Foundation and Post Installation

1.1 Concrete Foundations: Pour concrete into 12 pre-excavated, 18-inch diameter, 42-inch deep foundation holes.

1.2 Post Installation: Install 24 pressure-treated 4″ x 6″ wooden posts, doubled up and fixed vertically, into the wet concrete foundations. The posts will be wrapped in rot-resistant sleeves to protect them from the concrete. The two posts will be fixed together with hex bolts. Ensure correct spacing and vertical alignment.

2  Wall Construction

2.1 Plank Installation: Place 5 pressure-treated 12″ x 2″ wooden planks vertically between the posts to create the wall face. Secure the planks to the posts.

3  Structural Support and Drainage

3.1 Anchoring: Install 2″ x 6″ pressure-treated deadman posts as anchors, placed underneath the grade and anchored to the main wall structure to provide additional structural support.

3.2 Gravel Backfill: Backfill the space behind the newly constructed wall with a layer of gravel to ensure proper drainage and prevent water accumulation, which could compromise the wall’s integrity.

4 Cleanup

4.1 Site Cleanup: Remove all construction debris, excess materials, and tools from the site. Leave the area in a clean and safe condition.
